Dear Florida Philosopher - The 67th annual meeting of the Florida Philosophical Association will be held February 18-19, 2022 in Miami, FL and hosted by Florida International University. Sarasota, FL 34243 -- Florida Philosophical Association 67th Annual Meeting CALL FOR PAPERS Paper submissions are invited for the 67th annual meeting of the Florida Philosophical Association, to be held February 18-19, 2022 in Miami, FL, hosted by the Florida International University. Zaldivar (Sante Fe College) Local Organizer: Dr. Laurie Shrage (Florida International University) 1. Regular Submissions a. Submission deadline: October 22nd, 2021 Papers in all areas of philosophy are welcome. All papers are to be prepared for anonymous review (remove all author identifying information). Papers submitted for inclusion in the regular program must be prepared for anonymous review and limited to a reading time of 30 minutes (approximately 12 double-spaced pages and usually not more than 4,000 words). Presentation time for the regular program is 50 minutes (30 minutes reading time and 20 minutes discussion). Papers must be submitted electronically as an attachment through EasyChair: < easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fpa2022 > All papers should include a cover page with the following: Paper title Author information Whether the paper is to be considered for a student award A 150-word abstract Please direct any questions regarding the submission process to the Program Coordinator at: < eugenio . zaldivar @ sfcollege . edu > 2. Outstanding Graduate Paper Award (GPA) Competition Graduate students submitting papers for the regular program may also elect to have their papers considered for the Outstanding Graduate Paper Award. The author of the winning paper will receive a monetary award. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible. Submission deadline October 22nd, 2021 Papers may be any length, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended. To have your paper considered for this award please indicate this by including “GPA” as the first keyword when submitting through EasyChair (easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fpa2022). 3. FPA Award in Public Philosophy This year, we will also give the FPA Award in Public Philosophy, made possible via a generous donation from Regina Rini (York). The award will be attributed to the best graduate essay addressing an issue of contemporary public significance. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible. Students should not submit an additional paper for consideration. They may elect to have their paper considered for the award. Submission deadline October 22nd, 2021 Papers may be any length, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended. To have your paper considered for this award please indicate this by including “Public” as the first keyword when submitting through EasyChair (easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fpa2022). 4. Undergraduate Paper Awards (UPA) Competition Undergraduate students may submit papers for special award consideration, depending on which of the following awards they are competing for: The Gerritt and Edith Schipper Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Philosophy Paper in a Four-Year College or University, or The Outstanding Undergraduate Paper in a Two-Year College. The author of the winning paper will receive a monetary award. Only students at Florida colleges and universities are eligible. Submission Deadline: October 29th, 2021 (the deadline for the undergraduate award competition is later than the general deadline for paper submissions.) Papers may be any length, but 15 double-spaced pages are recommended. To have your paper considered for this award please indicate this by including either “UPA4” or “UPA2” (for the four-year or two-year awards, respectively) as the first keyword when submitting through EasyChair (easychair.org/conferences/?conf=fpa2022). 5. Special Sessions Proposals for special panel sessions are also welcome. Your suggestions should be sent to the Program Coordinator at: < eugenio . zaldivar @ sfcollege . edu > Submission Deadline: October 22nd, 2021 To submit a proposal for a panel session, the panel organizer should prepare and submit a panel presentation document with the following components: panel title, participants, a panel abstract which constitutes an overview statement of the theme of the panel, a panel brief by each of the proposed panel members. A panel brief is text that is (or would be the basis of) the panelist's intended presentation.
